Did she kiss me to comfort me, or does it mean more?

My long time crush randomly initiated a kiss today after I was confiding in her about some stuff that has me down. She has been seemingly closer to me recently, but I could be reading her all wrong, since we work together, so we technically have to be together. I really didn't expect her to kiss me, and after it she smiled and asked me if I felt better. That question made me think that what I had interpreted as passion, was really pity/comfort... and now I am very confused... I have never told her I liked her, I only told my brother, and there is no way she could have found out from him... So could it have just been for comfort?
